With 50 states and a population of over 320 million, the United States is a huge country. Each state has its own laws and statutes, besides the federal laws in place. This means that every state has autonomy over many issues. One of the issues is controlling of traffic or the issuing of traffic tickets in general. Although some states tend to be lenient when it comes to issuing traffic tickets, there are some that take traffic control seriously and issue the highest amount of traffic tickets. This post looks at those states which give out the most traffic tickets.

1. Utah

Utah is home to some of the most friendly and polite people that you would possibly find. However, from the moment they start to drive, they become extremely aggressive. This hyper-aggression could be due to them being nice all of the time. However, it has been observed that for every 10,000 Utahans, about 505 tickets were issued. The good news is that Utahans return to being nice when they get pulled over by the cops.

2. South Dakota

With an abundance of roadside attractions, South Dakota is the place to drive. There are plenty of dinosaur parks and even ghost towns in the state. In 2016 alone, about 50,000 people were issued a speeding ticket. South Dakota does not take lightly to speeding.

3. North Carolina

North Carolina might be a cool state, but that does not mean you get to drive too fast here. Over 500,000 speeding tickets were written by the cops in 2017 alone. The state has some of the highest rate of traffic tickets issued. So, if you are driving in North Carolina, make sure that you keep to the speed limit.

4. Arizona

Arizona can get really hot during the summer and you might want to speed to your closest restaurant or smoothie shop. However, that does not mean you get to speed past the limit. Do not lose track of speed because Arizonians are extra careful when driving because the cops do not go easy on them for breaking the law.

5. Mississippi

Life is much slower in Mississippi and that is the way they like to keep it. This means that you should not drive past the speed limit as you would be issued a speed limit and even a warning. For every 10,000 residents, 600 speeding tickets were issued. If you are in Mississippi, you might want to take it slow.

6. Washington

Washington is one of the most beautiful states out there. It also has no state income tax. So, how does the state collect revenue? It does this by charging people for speeding. Ticket revenue is huge here and about 417,000 tickets had been issued.
